Marisa's elephant # 4 jumps
first on the "twig" (her thumb.)
One little elephant went out to play
Out on a spider's web one day.
She (he) had such enormous fun,
She (he) asked another elephant to come.
Two little elephants went out to play
Out on a spider's web one day.
They had such enormous fun,
They asked another elephant to come.
[Continue to four. On the last verse (four little elephants) I speak:
"they all went home for a delicious snack of ____."]
[To my knowledge, there is no copyright on the melody.
If you know of such, please write grandma@grandmaskite.com
]
Now the elephant jumps on the spider's web. (The web is all those lines
on your palm. If the children do the fingerplay with palm out, I ask
them to make sure they can see the spider's web.)
When the finger hops from "twig to web," or from thumb to
palm, we are practicing the motion needed to change strings without
collapsing the wrist.
